Fairly decent shots, poor lighting. But that's expected in a bar setting.
I say the same thing about the instruments? Where are they?
I do photography for local bands all the time, you need to show them playing. Otherwise, what's the point of going to the show and getting head shots only?
I am no means a professional, but I am aspiring to be one and learning all I can.
So look at the photos, notice what you did wrong and correct it the next time around. That's how you learn.
Also, try different angles.
I often stand on the bar, chairs and crouch on the ground. Just ask permission to do so before hand.
Also, make sure flash photography is allowed. Lighting is everything in photography, especially when dealing with people. Make up the poor lighting with a decent off camera flash and if you can, get someone to hold it in position.
Lighting is something I also have to work on as well.
I can provide some examples of different angles, ideas, etc if you would like? I know my lighting is off, but I got a 580EX II Speedlight flash so I don't "lens shadow" anymore.
