A Few Recent Wedding Shots C&C Welcome

This wedding was one of the most difficult I've done. The bride unfortunately was having a rough day and didn't really want to be photographed but I think we walked away with some decent shots. Let me know what you think, I'm always looking for feedback on my editing.

C&C per req:


1. Way too tightly composed; it's fine to crop limbs, but never laterally. Good exposue on the dress and tux though.


2. Again... toooooo tight. You've cropped part of her dress, part of her foot, and the specular highlights are just a little much. We won't discuss the flare.


3. Cute shot, again, well exposed, but I think it would have been much better from farther to your right where we could have seen more of their faces.


4. IMO, this is one for the bit bucket. The background kills it, and again wayyyy too tight.

5. I like this one, but it might have benefitted from a closer crop, not much, just a little too much empty space.

6. There's potential here, but you need to clone out the power lines in the background.


Overall, they're not a bad set - generally they seem to suffer from crops which are too tight, and also from excess DoF; consider using larger apertures and longer glass to help reduce DoF and help render the background out of focus and less distracting.

I can't argue with what Tirediron has commented, I can only support that my first impressions were that the crops were not ideal as well.

I agree with Tiredone about the slight crop on #5. It is the best of the set IMO. I would have liked to see you more centered amongst the groom and groomsmen on the last photo, as well as having them centered on the road.

All too tight. #5 is your best shot. What is going on on #6? The guy all the way to the right is blowing smoke?

I'm with T for most part AND
1. Add some fill flash - shadows under the eyes aren't flattering; have her tilt her wad to the groom. It move closer while Golding it straight. It would provide smooth continuity of her body rather then angular composition.
#2. I have mixed feelings about the flare. I do like it but on the face? I would want that frame in my wedding album. Flare above and bn the heads - THAT I'd want in the album.
I like the groomsmen shot - But distortion is very "flavor based". For me it's 50/50.
The rest are just snapshots of the moment. If it were me deciding what to put in the album I might have not places them in there (or maybe I would) not sure...

I'm not saying 100% of all wedding photos should be candid, in fact I think there needs to be a good mix. I can guarantee though that the bride and groom will love the "snap shots" as much as the posed ones. Also as I mentioned the bride wasn't working with us and we barely had the chance to setup shots. Thanks for all the feedback though.
