It's quite popular in Aisa, China, Taiwan, Japan..... I don't know what you call it here in the states.
The couple take a series of pictures (mostly before the wedding) indoor or outdoor with different dress, background. The outdoor session is a lot more expensive than indoor. Indoor is in the studio, which is much easier to setup. After the ceremony, those pictures along with the wedding pictures will be super nicely presented in a album.

Prior to the wedding is the Bridal Portrait session. Traditionally it used to be only the bride, however it has now spread to include the groom or even the honor attendants too!

Thanks for all the comments guys. In previous post, #1 it wasn't a pose, I just saw them and snap the photo. It's like a candid shot since I had the 85mm on the 7D, and was standing close, it's either that or lost a shot.

They already had an engagement shoot and party last year, this year they were rushed into getting married because of their personal reason. In Vietnamese/Asian traditions, usually they have pictures of them in their wedding attire prior to the wedding to have wedding photos being displayed at their wedding. It's a bit different from Western culture where some don't let you see the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding. Not sure but this is not new. However, the groom can not see the bride in her traditional dress *Vietnamese we call it Ao Dai* until he had came in the house to ask permession for marriage from her parents.

I just pulled the pictures from my other camera with the 28mm....my god I forgot to put that camera in raw files and all of the file is JPEG! Anyways I did my best and here's some from the 28mm. Someone asked for traditional shots of them looking at the camera, so here's some along with portraits style shots.

No 3 in the first batch is the best for me too. in No4 she looks detatched and cold because he is kissing her and she is looking another way. I could be wrong but I feel no warmth from this shot. I share Keith's baewilderment about no1 of the second batch. Why so much background? I can see what the subject is meant ​to be but they aren't the main subject of what is captured.

I think the bewilderment is more of the building distortion than the percent of building showing. Easy fix in photoshop though!

I like it but I think you need to work on her expressions. She knew you were taking photos. Make them a bit more natural. good work.

They're hard to take photos of. He looks everywhere, she's hard to pose, very stiff, and etc. But yeah, it is what it is. I did it as a gift for them.
