New to the club..... New to Photography.. Here are a few shots I took over the last week. Looking for some feedback.....

2nd shot: i like this one for the composition

4th shot: i like the colors of this one. I think having a centralized subject here is okay, but you may want to experiment with a few different angles and compositions.

In general, with these shots and others that you have in your Flickr steam it seems like you're putting the subject too central in the frame and not getting in tight enough on the composition.

It's good to see you're using manual exposure mode and getting good exposures with varying shutter speeds. You may want to also practice with aperture priority mode using exposure compensation so you're ready for quickly changing conditions.

Thanks qleak. I have determined that photography is an ongoing learning experience.......LOL the 4th shot if you look closely, you can see me and my bud actually taking the shot.. A slight angle would have been in order but top tell you the truth, I am looking at taking sharper photos. My 1st few weeks with the 60D was bleak at best learning the camera. My shots have become much more sharp and positioning and composition will be my next step....

I think it's an ongoing learning experience for most people here (myself included)

I didn't think seeing you (and your friend) in the photo was a defect, pretty cool lighting in that location. What is it a christmas tree in a mall?

I must admit your focus and sharpness is quite good for a beginner. You show a reasonably solid understanding of the basics of aperture, shutter speed and depth of field. These are usual stumbling blocks for beginners so I'd be proud of yourself there :clap:

Well, I figured before joining a club like this, it would best to figure the cam out and settings. I bought the 60D a few months ago and practice a lot(got it for $540 on craigslist and the guy said shutter count was low... maybe 15,000). I will say, the sharpness sucked bad when I got it and did a lot of research. It looked like the 60D was flawed by all the poor performance blogs and posts but it looks like it is a user issue. The photos are pretty good if I say so myself(how would I know)... So, now that I have some experience under my belt, I joined up. I would love to hook up with someone in my area with experience to mentor me.....(Chicago)
