A good travel zoom

My current solution is my Nikon V1 with Nikon 10-100mm PD (FX equivalency 27-270mm)
I take my D800 with 24-70 and the V1 with the 10-100 incase I need anything with reach. Too lazy to bring the 70-200 on vacations now.

That is actually a pretty good idea, on some travels, you just want to be a tourist and bringing a smaller compact camera is definitely a good solution!

I've taken endless trips with both 2.8 zooms and used only the 24-70. Was in areas with wildlife, and never saw any, etc... I don't mind the D800 with 24-70 at all, but the 70-200 is a chore to have with you and never use. For a while I would bring my Tamron 70-300 VC and it rocked. But I eventually sold it off when I got the V1 and 10-100.

Just a FYI, the Nikon One system is dead.

I'd strongly recomment to go Micro Four Thirds or Fujifilm X instead.

The Fujifilm XF 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 OIS specifically is a great lens and would be my personal pick for this.
