A Leaf and a Skull

I was expecting all in one picture. Leave is nice. Scull not so decisive. You didn't "achieve" clean separation of the subject and that framing don't work for me.

I tinkered a bit with the skull, better, worse, no change, or should have left it in colour? lol

To be honest with you this composition doesn't work for me at all in terms of color, DoF and textures. Sorry. But the leaf is nice. I think you shot it in natural light from above. Maybe next time when you shoot such a subject will be worth to get some side light for greater depth and to bring the intricate texture little more up.

Thanks T, no need to be sorry! I appreciate your thoughts It is a crumbled skull so I wasn't sure there was enough to begin with, I will continue to play with it though

Yes, do that, the scull has a potential. Try maybe bring it to more monolithic background, much darker than the scull and try different angles of light maybe with use of some makeshift reflectors. My idea with this scull would be to explore the it's 3D shape and intricate detail with DoF large enough for the whole subject.
