Rare find for our little state park, a mating pair of Great Horned Owls. While they tend to stay in a defined territory, they are crafty in that they stay way up high in the tops of thick pine canopies making shots in any light but full sun quite difficult especially more difficult because their defined territory is off limits to visitors. I have to shoot from no closer than 250 feet away and 60 feet up. I am borrowing a large lens this weekend to see if I can't get better definition and detail.
This was shot with a D810, 80-400 at f/11 1/500 ISO 640 because in addition to all the other difficulties yesterday, there was also a light rain falling.
