While it may seem a bit macabre to record your own mother's passing, I was as compelled to make this shot as she was to make the journey into the next life. It was an easy transition and she was surrounded by all who loved her. I'm not sure any of us could ask for more. Within 10 seconds of this shot, she was gone. I will miss her dearly, and love her always.

Indeed, cathartic as she has only been gone for less than a day now. Thank you all for the support in making the shot and the condolences for my loss...but you know, she had an 88 plus year run on life and few of us will ever see that long on this earth. Make the most of every day. I plan to.

I lost my mother almost 1 year ago. She needed open heart surgery and I was there to support her and my Dad through the ordeal.
I went home after she came through the surgery. She passed 2 weeks later. I didn't know the last time I saw was truly the last time I'd see her.
We scattered her ashes in the gulf. My Dad asked me recently if I had pictures of the wreath. I couldn't bring myself to take photos at the time.
I'm sorry for your loss and I'm moved by your ability to capture this moment.
Thank your for sharing it. It's evoked a lot of emotion for me and speaks to the power and dignity of what you captured.
