A New One I took Today (C&C)

Thanks for digging up an old thread, and reminding my why someone is in my "do not respond" list.

I like the photo editing. Im not a professional. Thats why Im posting on the beginners section, but I have been doing photoshop for about 9 years now. I like how it looks. The out of focus is what I was going for. If you look at what I do, most of it kinda has this edge to it. Maybe its not popular and I love the opinions and advice and welcome it, but in the end, I still like it. :)
That's fine if you like it. In fact that's all that counts.

But, asking for C&C and then getting defensive when you do get C&C won't fly. Few people like OOF photos, and few people like editing done to extremes, so be aware that the majority of people won't like your work as much as you do.

BJPhotography is the new Misstwinkletoes!

Twinkly.

In what aspect?

I'm not fond of that much processing MOST of the time, but you should see one I just did! :lmao:

I feel for BJ cause of the focus not falling on the eyes, but I have to agree I think it's more of a family picture rather than a portrait.

And yeah, I just added more pics of my kids for C&C.

Add me to the out of focus and over processed group. The little girl is a cutie, though.

I will work on the fingers cut off. I guess I see the shot and want to take it but Im too quick to do it. Im still learning the fstops and apertures and so I spend more time flipping them around to see what I get than what the person in the photo is doing. I'll work on that.

This can be a challenge! You see a moment you'd like to capture, an expression, a pose and you want to jump in there and snap before they move or realize the camera is pointed in their direction. If it's a photo you particularly like, you caught a wonderful expression or everything else is working for you, but there's an awkward composition problem (cut off fingers in this case), try re-cropping where that ceases to be an issue. An added bonus to taking the focus off missing digits is that the crop will be tighter bringing more focus to the face. Beautiful little girl, btw.

There's no dearth of snark here it seems, but if you can weather that it appears some offer up helpful information as well. I would guess that some have never participated in a face to face critique. A face to face environment where you critique work and also have your work critiqued by others gives you a different perspective on how to conduct yourself! Yes, critiques can be brutal, but there should always be a thread of respect that flows both ways. I think you politely disagreed with the criticism given you regarding post processing (you're allowed) and that wasn't well-received, but you maintained a sense of decorum, so congrats on that!

Even the original is OOF - the focus looks like it fell on her shirt. I think it is over-processed.
