I think you missed the focus, what was your aperture?

It was in focus. I did it this way on purpose afterward.

Happy medium,... maybe?

You're gonna get real tired of people telling you that you over process.
Whatcher doin' is kinda horrid and dizzying.

People come here everyday trying figure out how to avoid camera shake, and you are adding it.

Pay attention to your backgrounds, they can be distracting. Also, try not to cut off things like hands and fingers. I don't care for the post processing. Not so much the soft blur look, I dislike the saturation mostly. It looks like a nice pic to keep as a family memory, but it doesn't really do much for me otherwise. Just my opinion though, some people may love it.

You see how her skin tone is a bit off in the original. It looks like your white balance was a bit off too.

Not bad; it's a bit under-exposed, but nothing that can't be corrected in post, and your WB is a touch cold (too blue), but other than that, the original is fine. I think your edit is a little 'intense' and the application of the gaussian blur far too heavy-handed. Post-processing, like so many things in life is most often a case of "Less is more".

Yo, 'Jeweller... get outta my head!!!! :-P

I like the photo editing. Im not a professional. Thats why Im posting on the beginners section, but I have been doing photoshop for about 9 years now. I like how it looks. The out of focus is what I was going for. If you look at what I do, most of it kinda has this edge to it. Maybe its not popular and I love the opinions and advice and welcome it, but in the end, I still like it. :)

If you're gonna go through that much post processing, you might as well clone out the bandage on her forehead.

I'm not a fan of the processing either. I get the saturation boost, but it makes the towels or whatever they are in the background really distracting. Try increasing the saturation selectively instead of generally. I don't get the blur at all.

It actually lacks edge. If you like it, that's all that matters.
I'll probably just refrain from giving C&C.

I wanted to add, that I have been using Photoshop from when it came on floppies. Years of experience doesnt justify pushing all the sliders to the right.

next time just omit the request for opinions.

but since you asked...
you over processed this one.

glamour glow cant help every photo.

I like the leading lines (pattern on tiles, edge to left) that point to her. Her hands are in an awkward shape and the fingers are cut off.. kind of distracting - I'd crop a bit off the bottom. I also don't like the glamour glow/soft focus effect you applied. Just my 2 cents.

I was going to post an edit but you have selected not to allow that for whatever reason.. Care to change it?
