At least it was less traveled on a cool foggy Thursday at Minnewaska State Park.

We were there all day and saw just a handful of people. It was blissful.

I love it! Great colors! I also enjoy my wildlife refuge here during the weekdays. I can hit several of my favorite spots and be the only one there for hours! The weekends, however, I tend to stay away. Bloody tourists.................

Thanks, gents! :586:

bc_steve: I like driving those roads too, although the only cars that can go on these are official park vehicles. They are old carriageways that are now used only for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

snerd: The hordes are why we generally stay away during weekends as well, especially during fall foliage season. We're lucky enough that we both have Thursdays off this semester so we can get there when no one else is there.

It's definitely good. Thursday we were hiking, but we've gone a lot of biking there, too. There are two lakes in the park - one is near the entrance and gets a lot of people, and the other one is deep in the park. At least once a year, we ride out specifically to go swimming in that lake. There are few things as refreshing as swimming in a cold mountain lake, especially after riding your bike along that mountain :)

I like the feelings this photo stirs. I could tell the road is old and not open to regular vehicle traffic (the leaves are all entirely undisturbed.)...and that fall is just getting going, with some green leaves on one tree, and nothing bare and denuded of leaves just yet...love the bit of fog where the road drops a bit...almost like being there.

I'm loving your latest pictures! :586:

Thanks, folks!

Derrel: I always appreciate your description of photos, mine or someone else's.

Gary: Yup, I like my Ruskies and film. I've also got a Zorki, which at least looks and feels like a "real" camera. The Lubitel is a little plastic box, but it's deceptively good for what it is.

Marija: Thank you, darlin! :icon_hug:

Jaca: That compliment was sweetness, too :lovestruck:
