This is infact digital I did a little contrast tweaking in photo shop to give it a bit of a boost. And alex, how do you do a good border in photo shop?

i use the elementary technique of increasing the canvas size and then filling it with the color you want.
My personnal advice: working with pixels/inches/cm's gets confusing when you have different crops and sizes so i use the percentage. for the very basic border (if you kept the original aspect ratio) in landscape format i set the width to 106% and height to 108% so they're proportionnal. but that's for the very very basic.
