He means the "conversion" from sunny weather to dull, overcast and cold. The latter is mostly monochromatic. Hence Ceeboy's complaint.

No, I did a high contrast B&W layer atop the color layer and changed the blend mode to Luminosity. This provided a needed delineation of contrast and detail in the sand.

Well, a friend of ours is flying on Wednesday to her condo in St-Petersburg. We've been invited to go, but I've a business to run, and my wife has started teaching again. So we'll probably wait until we've had it up to HERE (although the way this winter has been it could be sooner rather than later). Just keep that thermostat on "high". We need to know there's warmth somewhere in the northern hemisphere.
