About to order Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, is it worth it?

i'm looking at the Nikon - AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 Lens for Nikon F-Mount Digital SLR Cameras right now. I don't know how I feel about this one at only 35mm. I take a lot of close ups and don't want to be touching the person/kid with my camera...lol what do ya'll think?

You wont be touching them. I've taken pretty close up shots before and I'm not touching! lol It is up to you, but my decision was that the 50mm 1.4 af-s is almost 500 dollars...

a 35 mm on your camera is effectively a 52.5 mm focal length.

I took this with the 35mm...

your body is a 1.5 crop.

35 x 1.5 = 52.5 mm "actual" focal length.

wow so a 200mm is really a 300mm on a d3000?

essentially.

wow you have made all of this understandable! thank you so much! I will be ordering the less today!

I'm guessing you have an 18-55mm kit lens, so you could just zoom that in to 35mm to see what a 35mm prime would look like.

great idea! I will do that when I get home! Thanks!
