Advice on an entry level camera

Unfortunately the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras isn' t a good prime lens. Though it is an OK prime lens for it's $199 price.The AF-S 35 mm f/1.8G is an inexpensive consumer grade lens. The lens has optical aberration issues (soft focus, chromatic aberration, purple fringing, etc) when used at it's larger aperture settings. Because it has only 7 aperture blades the lens produces bokeh chromatic aberration well into larger lens apertures too. To keep the cost if the lens low, Nikon had to forego the design and manufacturing expense needed for correcting the optical aberration issues the lens has.

Perhaps you got a lemon? The 35 1.8 is a must buy for dx. Forget the fact that it is 200, performance wise it stands up there with the best of em. Look at masuverous comparison between the 1600 35 1.4 and the 35 1.8g. It's a pretty darn sharp lens, it's tiny, fast close focusing, has moderate weather sealing. What else does one need? It is probably the most bang for the money than any other lens in nikons current line up. Especially for dx, hell it even works OK on fx for a quick fix.
