Have got a D5000, and I'm looking to get a Nikon Macro lens. What Macro lenses would you recommend in a price region of £250-300.

The Tokina 100mm 2.8 is an excellent lens... and is a great first macro lens. Shows to be 359 pounds on amazon UK Tokina AF 100mm F/2.8 Macro AT-X 100AF PRO D - Nikon: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo

The Tamron 90mm is also popular. 347.99 pounds on Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP A/M 1:1 Macro Lens for Canon: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

The Nikon 85mm might do you also .... Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/3.5G ED VR Lens: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

I would recommend the Tokina... and I do not recommend anything under a focal length of 85mm to 100mm if you plan to shoot insects. They have a greater minimum focusing distance then the 40mm / 50mm / 60mm 's do....

You might find them used... in your price range.
