Affinity vs Photoshop

If Adobe's people think I'm going to get through all the tutorials in one week, they are high on something.

I ended my Adobe trial, not because of the software, but because of their dishonest business practices and incompetent customer service. I don't know how they are supposed to get new customers when they behave this way. I really wanted to get to know the software, but dealing with jerks is too high a price.

Now I'm going to uninstall the programs. I'm afraid that if I click on one accidentally, Adobe will restart my subscription.

Photoshop is a LOT to learn. Unless you're learning a very specific workflow, nobody expects you to get through learning it in a week. This is why there are entire school courses on learning to use the software.

No, clicking the software isn't going to re-activate your subscription without your consent. That would be illegal.

That's unfair and facile. Adobe treated me very shabbily.

We don't know the problems you encountered, nor if it was related to Adobe or your inexperience. In any case there are millions others like myself who have used Adove products for decades now. I can say they have always been great at customer service.

I would suggest if you need help with any software that you start another thread as you'll be more apt to get the help you need.

I no longer have Photoshop or Lightroom, so I don't need help with them. I never asked them for help with software. Their bad behavior was related to subscribing, and I'm far from alone in complaining about such things.

Again not knowing the circumstances I couldn't comment. I can say they've always been helpful and forthcoming in advising me of plans, but I'm a long time user knowledgeable with their offerings.

What is this? "...but because of their dishonest business practices and incompetent customer service." Is this fairness?

I have dealt with Adobe for more than 30 years, and never found them incompetent, whether it was about a software problem or a customer service/subscription thing. Every corporation engages in some form of dishonest business practices; it's a fact of life. They are there to make money, and they really don't care how. As long as the lawyers say they can get around the legalities, they'll push the boundaries.

Charging for software is not dishonest, even if it is by the month, and a lot of the hatred for the subscription model comes from those who used to steal the software and can't anymore because it calls home too often and can be disabled remotely so easily.

People think software should be free and always work flawlessly. Well, if that is your desire, there are lots of options.
