Airport photo for c&c.

I really don't see how straightening this will do much for this picture one way or another. In fact I think the tilt adds to it a bit. It makes it look like you're on the climb, and once you hit the turn ahead everything is going to be downhill again.

My biggest impression is one of claustrophobia. You don't get a lot of the outside to give you a feel of space - mostly because all you can see through the windows is other buildings. It also doesn't help that your viewpoint looks to be so close to the ceiling. I wonder what it would look like if you'd taken the picture while kneeling?
Thanks, yeah kneeling would be something to consider. Or maybe without the bend so you can see the end of the tunnel?

Really?

So would you thank my post if I told you I liked it, and that it's perfect as is?

Probably or some criticism like everybody else has without sounding patronising.

Yeah, the angle throws it off for me. I love the concept though. A few more flights and you should have it perfect :).

Thanks alot, it's comment like this i like.

I would have taken it straight if i wanted to.

The reason we said straighten it is because it doesn't look deliberate. You should either have it dead straight or obviously tilted, not just a little bit wonky.

If you have Photoshop, go to Filters>Lens Correction (depending on your version it might be in the "Distort" sub-menu) and then use the straighten tool to draw a line across a line in the photo that should be straight, it will straighten the image to that line.

Have to agree with Tyler...this should be straightened. No one is saying you have to follow the rules of photography...but there's a reason those rules are in place: they usually make the image more pleasing to the eye.

If you're asking for C&C you're asking people to comment what they feel about the pictures. Telling them they're wrong isn't a way to get future help on the forum...you might have just said you knew it wasn't straightened but you liked it that way. Instead you told him he was wrong for quoting one of the rules of photography.

At that point everyone will read it and say, "What's the point of commenting if the OP is going to tell us we're wrong anyway?". Everything is subjective, don't tell people they're wrong.

As for the picture:

It's grainy, it has too much blur in it, it's not straight, the subject is perfectly centered, the focus is apparently on the pathway you're standing on about 2ft in front of you, and the colors and saturation are dull.

If you ask for criticism, don't expect rainbows and butterflies. Your photography will never improve if the only people commenting are shoving pixies up your ***. Take criticism and move on

EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention that the picture is blown out, specifically because you increased the exposure bias by 2/3 of a stop.

I'm not asking for everyone to say its fine because its obviously not, ive had my camera for two months, but some people on this forum just have that know it all attitude. (Not aimed at you btw)

As others have said, It does need to be straighten, kinda blah... And as for tyler, he knows his stuff. He may seems like a smart *** from time to time but when it comes to photography he does know what he is talking about. As with a lot of the others on here. Just putting my .02 in because I am new as well.

Straightened ... definitely.

Personally I would have leaned over and had the camera directly in between the two railings and shot it lower. Would have been some good lead lines going to the tunnel and also having the center ceiling piece as a lead line.

its a decent shot, but yes....crooked.

i think what dug you in here is your reply of "oh i did that on purpose..."
all too often, someone asks for C&C and when they get some they dont like they resort to..."oh yeah i meant to do that."

"im new C&C my pics..."
"it's out of focus"
"yeah thats my style"

now im not saying this is what you did...if you tilted on purpose, so be it. but like others have said, make it more deliberate. :D

ill also vouch for tyler. sarcastic, funny as hell, and yes....knows his ****.

welcome to the forum!
keep shooting and have fun!

oh and i have to ask...manchester...NH? or England? :D

No worries. Just telling you that in photography, like any other trade, you have to learn to take criticism if you ask for it. Tyler's a smart*** but like others have already said he does know his stuff. He may come across like he knows *all* the stuff, but it's only because this forum is regularly treated to new photographers that like to prove others wrong. It gets a bit tiring to give C&C when it's asked for, then have to fight for our opinions when the photog says we're wrong. Just look past the "know-it-all attitude" and try to take the C&C for what it's worth.

Also, try taking some more pictures. If you want to show people you know what you're doing (or that you're learning from mistakes) then show them with examples. The best way to shut people up is to show them progress.
