All in one lens?

Well I'm reading about this tamron 18-200mm & it's saying that it's good for " family events, distant wildlife, sports action, and close-ups of kids. So I suppose there is such thing?
i just bought a Tamron lens today.. for my Nikon D5000 ... even though i am a beginner in photography.. i can tell the extreme difference using this Tamron 18 270mm .. i am so excited to try more..

I have the tamron 18-200. Great convenience. The other day I took some pictures at 18mm and noticed they were all soft, and I was very unhappy with the results. However, in the middle of the focal length I have not noticed the same thing and thought the pictures came out extremely sharp with good image quality, compared to the nikon kit lens. I still want to take some comparison shots under the same conditions to see what kind of differences I see between the kit lens and the all in one.

The main problem I see with superzooms is not necesarily their sharpness (or lack of it) but just how slow they can get towards the long end. f/6.3? Not for me thanks, especially when if you want to get a decently sharp picture you need to stop down a bit. You won't be taking photos in anything other than bright sun at the long end of one of those lenses.

I use the Canon 50mm f/1.4 as an all round-lens...

Inconvenient cause you zoom by walking back and forth? You bet!
But in return you get superior image-quality, and a very fast lens usable at low iso in low light. I also get great bokeh and can use the aperture in more creative ways.

Also this lens cost about 350$ So if you want to buy lenses later if you realize you want to specialize in something, you haven't broken you budget.
