So I managed to make it to Iceland alive - the problem is I forgot all of my filters *slaps forehead*.

Luckily the person I am travelling with remembered theirs but common who comes to Iceland and forgets their filters?! This individual right here! *rant*

Anyways, on the side note it is beautiful and I am looking forward to it, but I need some landscaper-ites to tell me some hint and tips to this type of photography so I will post two and please critique away, I need to learn this trick in 14 days!

ETA: I am sitting in a hotel watching an American couple doing shots of Icelandic liquor - this is very entertaining

Looks like you are doing pretty well already.

One tip, if it's overcast and the sky just won't look good in photos...take advantage of that and photography scenes that would otherwise have too great of a tonal range. When it's overcast, the highlights aren't as bright and the shadows aren't as deep...so you can get all (or most) of the details on both ends of the scale...in just one exposure.
And if the sky looks bland, then compose your shots to minimize or eliminate it.

I am in Iceladn essentially because the other individual wanted to go and bought two tickets so... that is why I am here - no specific reason!

Anty, I was in Reykjavik (sp?) for a day and right now I am in Stykklholumer (sp?) and our plan is to drive around the entire island and be back in Reykjavik beginning of September for two days before heading back to warm Canada (who would have thought I would have ever said that )

Hey.... sorry I've just seen your PM... a meetup would have been good but like you, my plan was to travel around the island...did it in just over a week, and so was either driving/hiking/climbing all week so schedule was a bit too tight!

Anyway, have an ace time, personally I loved it. Probably one of the most incredible adventures I've ever had. Knackered though, in fact my whole body hurts.

Dont know if you're still there, but go hiking on Vatnajokull (spelling?!) glacier if you can... bloody amazing. We also drove to north of the glacier on roads from hell, then to Askja, but was worth it to get inside a huuuuge icecave and go glacier climbing again. Also saw a blue whale in Husavik which was incredible.

Oh, and dont listen if people tell you you wont see the northern lights, because we did, albeit by sheer luck. At a hut in the middle of nowhere, dancing across the sky, beer in one hand, camera in the other. Surreal. Seriously, I wish I could spend a year in that place, its like a different planet.

Anyhoo... I'm going to post some proper pics and stuff at some point, after I've gone through all 22.5Gb that is, so for now a couple for a laugh.

Everyone... you should go to Iceland, no excuses.
