One from a recent session; a bit of a different look.

I really like this, John, a proper portrait. She's framed a little off-centre to the left, possibly deliberately, but a strong imposing shot. Whoever she is I bet she's delighted with it.

Nice portrait.
One thing that bother me a bit here is how her eyes are lit/portrayed/presented - I am not sure which is the proper word here. I have seen several similar portraits recently with the same trait - the person's left eye, that has more shade on/around it, is better defined, it sort of stands out and looks actually larger that the right one. I am not quite sure why it happens, as I am not a portrait photographer, but I see it again and again with the same kind of lighting. There is always like a "main eye" that is more alive and looks at you, and a "secondary" one, that is sort of.. dead. It is a bit weird. I know people's faces are not really symmetrical, but as I said I have recently seen 3 or 4 portraits where similar lighting leads to a similar problem.

Thanks Nettles & Sash... yes, the framing is a bit off and the lighting is perfect either; she was actually on her way out the door, and I was breaking down the lighting, and I looked over and saw what she was wearing and just about fell over myself to get her back for a couple of last-minute shots; the lighting was a little bodged together out of what was still in place (she was already late for a supper date before this, but as I explained, we must suffer for our art! )
