This is one of the things I really like about like about doing long exposures in the night. It just opens a new world of creativity and opportunity's. So, I guess the first thing I gotta do is buy one of those wireless shutter realease...things? (forgot the name) and some lights. What else do you guys recommend?

Here's my first attempt (kinda lame haha)... but I guess it is at least the concept of what I have in mind. What do you guys think? What would you have done differently? I guess the first thing would be not to use my cellphone as the light source.

Dollar stores have a good variety of different lights. I like the above picture. A lot of people tend to just use lights and have no background showing at all (like my avatar which I should really change). I think the setting is key, and you've done a good job in this one. (although I think it would've benefited if you kept the basketball hoop's post in the shot as well). Wish I was more help. Good luck

Thanks! Yeah, I was debating weather to put more of the hoop in the shot, and compositional logic was telling me yes, but I kinda liked those trees in the back... I guess it's time to finally put to use one of those 10 dollar wide angle lens you get from amazon XD

But as for drawing the image... you just draw into blank space? Do you use something to guide where you draw? I mean... somethings are simple, but your avatar isnt a stick figure.

For my avatar I traced my brother while he was standing. It was meant to look like someone doing a handstand but all I really did was pass the flashlight in front of his neck and add a line as his head towards the bottom. It's way easier to trace something as I see that you did in your picture.

Maybe for others it works better to draw something out without tracing but I'm not the best at drawing.

No need to get a wide angle lens for this (though I wish I had one myself). I think you could've moved back about 4 steps and captured all of the hoop as well as the trees to the right. You can always exaggerate the size of the person while tracing them if you want the person to be more prominent in the frame.

Cute idea. Love the colors going on throught the image.
I agree, needs the hoop to be more in the frame. But as you said, tough call with the tree colors and light om the court.

Hmm... maybe... I'll just use the other side of the court? haha. Yeah, the lights...There were two different ones. The tungsten for the court, which is hitting the bottom trees, and the more orange one for the park. I too liked the colors they reflected from the lights.

Have your cute cousin help you out.
