Photos OK to edit
Thought it might be interesting to see what people are editing with. Considering how much is spent on the photography side, I'd expect to see some pretty sweet setups.

Let's see 'em

I suppose I'll get it started....

Mine started as a gaming setup, I play for time to time, but not too much. So a little overkill for photo processing, but I am making my way into video so the extra horsepower is helpful even though I am outdated now.

Intel i7 6700k OC'ed 4.5 Ghz
Gigabyte Z170X Ultra Motherboard
Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 16 GB
Asus Strix OC Edition GTX 1070
Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVM Express Drive 256 GB
Samsung 850 EVO SSD 512 GB
Western Digital Black 2 TB HDD
Western Digital Blue 4 TB HDD
Corsair RM850i Modular PSU
Custom Water Cooling Loop
Asus 27" 2560x1440 165hz Monitor

I never seemed to gravitate towards an over clocked CPU. I understand you can do it but the results are don't translate to a better render.

I use a regular business type computer running Photoshop CS2. An image of it would be boring. I sometimes use a laptop computer. Also boring.

I use an Apple iMac - also boring. It is a tool and no more worth posting a picture of than a picture of a spanner would in a mechanics' forum.

I have some excellent folding cameras dating from over a century ago that are much more worth sharing pictures of.

I see no difference in it oc'ed or running stock, simply do it because I can and I love the look of water cooling.

I dont care about the looks of my rig. It's a cheap case with decent parts.

I do wish I went with a modular PSU -- so many extra wires and connectors sitting there on the bottom of the case.

Nice specs, yes is modular is very nice, no extra clump of wires to tie up and hide.

Maybe I should have said workstation area, not necessarily the computer setup itself.

OK, my workstation for processing photographs (should have had a tidy-up first, perhaps):

On a side note, I see Apple is extremely popular for photo editing. Any advantage it has over Lightroom for Windows ? I may add a secondary computer if it is that much better if it is worth the investment

The main advantage of using an Apple iMac is that a you never again have to use Windows. It must be the most god awful operating system ever devised. When Bestbeloved worked, she regularly rang to say she would be late as Windows had decided it had to update stuff before she could switch off the computer - and that was not just a minute or so. Sometimes it could be 20 minutes.

With the advent of SSD and M.2 drive, thankfully those update don't take long at all. I've been using Windows for so long that it doesn't really bother me, but I still wouldn't mind trying OSX to see how it is. Maybe I can pick up one of those Mac Minis to get a feel for it vs investing in a iMac. I already have some extra monitors and a older Apple keyboard and mouse that someone gave me years ago.

But Windows is so badly written, the updates are required. I have had my iMac for eight months and there has only been one update in that time. How many Windows updates have there been in the last eight months?
