Me and my Husband are considering getting this camera.
I've heard it's suppose to be a pretty amazing camera.
I know it's still VERY new, but has anyone got any feedback as to why we SHOULDN'T get this camera?

Thanks!

I have the D50 and it is amazing...even though i am relively new to photography all the shots that I like people seem to like as well...you can see some of my works with the D50 in the link in my signature down below \/ \/ \/ but yeah...I love my D50...

the only thing I would recommend is to wait 3-4 months for the newer series... usually the first series have some bugs... but it is not a rule

I wouldn't consider the D80 the first series...it's pretty much an upgraded D70, which is a very popular camera.

You will probably be very happy with a D80.

If it goes the way all other Nikons go that are new it will take you three or four months to get one anyway. I agree with the others. I would wait until the bugs are worked out. Price might drop by then also.

I have a D50 and I'm super happy with it, I'm also considering upgrading to the D80 but there is some other things I'd like to get first. For those of you looking to upgrade form older cameras the new D80 (as well as the D50) use SD cards instead of Compact Flash. Just giving a heads up.

What kind of photography do you do?

I have a D50 and love it to death. I wish I had some built-in technology like others do such as ultra-sonic cleaning of it's sensor, but little things like that aren't a deal breaker. I expect the D80 to be great and don't see much reason to wait. If there are any bugs they can usually fix them with firmware :-)
