Asked to do another wedding :/ Help

Well sorry I dont have years of experience, hundreds of books, thousands of photographs, a mentorship, and thousands of hours practicing - If I did I wouldnt have made this thread. Thanks for your help though it truely was helpful.

No theres no lens rental places where I am, I would have to go to Auckland or Christchurch - And to get them couriered would be loads - And would proabably make it not worth doing the wedding at all. As it is im splashing out, but not entirely for this wedding, i want to branch out into different sorts on photography instead of just sports, which is the only thing ive done really.

You definitely need to learn how to use the manual mode if you don't already. Figure it out and practice, practice, practice. I wish you the best!

Yeah I do work in manual - Dont worry im not a complete noob who thinks i can stick a DSLR in auto and profit hundreds! haha I semi know what im doing :P
Yeah im going to do quite a few practice shoots with friends, younger brother (to get the children thing sorted too) and even a practice couples shoots with my older sister and her partner i tihnk

I typed Lens Rental New Zealand into google and got 6,820,000 results. I have a feeling you may not have looked too hard about finding a place to rent lenses.

Honestly, I can't, for the life of me, figure out why I tried to condense years of experience, hundreds of books, thousands of photographs, a mentorship, and thousands of hours practicing into a single thread. I guess I just hoped you weren't the guy who just wanted to be spoon fed information about an event he agreed to shoot and was in over his head. I give up. Like I said in my first post, I knew I was going to regret this.

Good luck to you.

This is "The Beginner's Forum". What do you expect? How long have you been involved with the internet and young people?

No dont do it its absolute crap. I bought one off ebay and when it came it took 3 shots then the capacitor died. I asked for a refund but it costs just as much to send it back. Do yourself a favour and get an sb 600 at least. In the long run the multiple functions will help A LOT. Thats the downside of warranty. it puts electronic repair shops out of business and when the warranty does run out, its time to upgrade anyways.

Ha! Yeah another noob attempting weddings right?
Well reagrdless - Just wanting to know what is good gear for indoor portrait photography? and I dont know anything about flashes soo... - Advice?
\

Don't do wedding then. Bring your camera to a bday party or when you hang out at a bar with your friends at night and practice your flash there first.

Yeah your right, i shouldnt shortcut like getting **** gear - ill getting somthing decent, looking at the sb800 and 900 does seem like the way to go - I need cheaper hobbies!

Seriously? This comment makes you sound ignorant and stupid, most people are one or the other very rarely both. Do you know How big NZ is? How rural it is for the most part? How difficult to get around? How many of those 6,820,000 hits are actually relevant and useful not to mention viable for him? Sometimes it is hard to fathom out everyone's opinions especially when you are younger and inexperienced. A little understanding wouldn't go amiss here from someone who obviously knows his trade but seems to have forgotten that rabbit in the headlights feeling of doing new important shoots.

You really are something, a real genuine......ugh, something. I have been on this Websites Forums for five minutes and this is the Third thread where I have witnessed you posting like a complete pompous douche. I guess you were never spoon fed anything? Nervous and did not know what to do?....God damn. You post in a manner that is both as I said before, condescending and arrogant.

I like this guy! i wish I could "Love" this post lol yes the rabbit in headlights feeling is the best way to describe it! Generally TPF offers great advice as its full of professionals etc, but you do more often than you would think get arrogant people who just arnt interested in thinking theres any point in helping newer photographers at all... Sigh, but ultimately I did benefit a bit from this thread..

I don't want to discourage you, because you seem to have the enthusiasm and seem to know some things about what you are doing, but you might want to have a look at this thread that I came across in another forum. This is from a chap who has been doing weddings for quite some time. It is a bit philosophical, but it contains some good and interesting thoughts on the whole process of wedding photography.

Look on the bright side at least you dont have mma as a hobby. A bad picture is better than a black eye, believe me I know.

Yep, it's about a third the size of Texas.

I am definitely a real, genuine something. I'm also very helpful and honest. My first few posts in this thread were nothing but helpful. I posted the same links that I used when I was learning. I also suggested settings, techniques, and equipment, all in a very nice way.

It wasn't until the OP showed that he had no interest in actually searching for the info or looking at the link I provided that I expressed my frustration.

The new, me-me-me, I want it now, I want it now, and I shouldn't have to put forth any effort, give it to me now, attitude that is so prevalent in just about every "I just bought a camera and booked my first wedding, what settings should I use and do I need a flash" thread gets old after a while.

None of the information, including my posts, is new, cutting edge, never before shared info. All of it could have been obtained by a simple google search or using this forums search function. And if you don't like my posts, I'm sure a quick forum search will show you how to use the ignore feature. ;)

I hope they turn out better than your horse shots, or you will have an unhappy customer
