Hi, I'll be shooting Athens and Metorea next month. I'll will be holding a Canon DSLR with Tamron 18mm to 270mm lens on a Cotton Carrier.

I'll stand out and accept that. With recent issues in Greece are there any suggestions from recent visitors from a dangers/annoyances standpoint?

I'll be shooting the "greatest hits" as I have not been here before.

I used black gaffer's tape and totally blacked out any and all branding on my lenses and camera body before traveling to SE Asia and found that simple trick to be highly effective in keeping my gear to look somewhat less obvious.

Greece is a member of the European Economic Community not a third world country. Ownership of houses/apartments, cars, flatscreen TVs and even cameras is quite common. ;)

Also tourism is a big industry, so expect to find other tourists with cameras.

As with the refugees, I think you'll find them mostly desperately unlucky people trying to escape a brutal war rather than a gang of vagabonds and thieves.

Treat the people and their culture with respect and I think you'll find them helpful and friendly. :)
