Please be constructive. If you like it tell me why and do the same if you don't. Otherwise I won't learn.

Thank you! :D

For me there is just too much out of focus, funny you should post this because this is what i was doing last night with studio lighting

It is very pretty but just not enough contrast. Great detail with the water but it's hard to focus on the front leaf because the background is all the same color. Does that make sense? I'm new too so take what you want from this.

I agree with the above poster - too much blur. Almost one whole side of picture is blur. Try composing it differently or use a smaller aperture. The colors are beautiful though!

Edit: above poster=gsgary. Momo3boys posted while I was typing

How about a tighter crop then?

Am I beating a dead horse?

That particular shot doesn't have anything interesting, IMO.

The leaf itself is boring - usually, leaf shots involve a really nice leaf that stands out from the usual bunch. At the very least, there should be some variation in shape, size, color, decay, etc. This leaves colors as your main subject by default, which are kinda lacking here. I would bump up the contrast. What was said about having too much out of focus is also true. If you're going to just focus on one particular part of the leaf, that part better be somehow different or more interesting than the rest of the leaf. Don't just leave things out of focus for the sake of forcing "that blurry effect" (bokeh) that people like so much.

Lastly, I would use a polarizing filter on the lens to get rid of some of that shine from the water. Yes, shiny leaves are nice but they should be toned down with a polarizing filter to get some of the texture to pop out more.

You're right. I was really forcing the bokeh.
Thanks everyone!
