Still experimenting with Photoshop CS2, and I hope to get it right someday! Taken with the 20D and the 17-40mm F4.0 L lens. Comments appreciated.

nice,

does not look over-photoshopped IMHO. Just a bit warm in the lower right corner, but if that was the mood of the scene that is OK.

did you try to crop so that you get more sky and slightly less of the imediate foreground? Not sure if it works, but it is just an idea.

different topic: so what do you think of the 17-40 on the 5 D? quite wide and a bit soft in the edges, but I like it most of the time!

That is clean! Nice shot.

The only criticism I could think of, is that maybe a little less sky. Maybe a little more foreground- the line of rocks looks interesting and you have some color there. I think less sky (stopping above the second peak on the right) would give it more pull into the river in the distance. Then again, Alex could have something there.

more river. or more sky, it could both add to the tension in the image. One would have to try which one is better in the end

Okay Alex, is this better? I cropped some off the top and bottom, and cropped some from the right side. It seems to me to be better balanced now. Your thoughts?

Haha, you cropped exactly where I was going to say, right at that natural line in the grass in the first pic. Big improvement imo.

I can't say that I saw any actual faults in the first version...but the 2nd on does seem to have a much better balance.

Where was this one taken? It looks like Pyramid Mountain is on the right side...but the perspective doesn't seem to be correct for that :scratch:

Good guess, but you missed it by 400 km or so. It is a picture taken on July 9th, 2006 in the Spray Lakes Provincial Park area near Canmore, Alberta and it is a favourite area to locals. This picture was looking South, down the length of the man made Spray Lake on a beautiful clear day with lots of wonderful sunshine. I just love it when the sky is full of fluffy white clouds.

Thanks to everyone for your comments, and I hope to someday get the hang of Photoshop CS2. I have only had it two weeks now, and it is a big step up from Elements which I had before. So far, I am enjoying the results of my endevours, and I am reprocessing some old photographs that I had taken over the last year.
