Baby Photographs

I'm a beginner. First time ever shooting babies. I'd love any and all tips that you have to throw at me

1 is out of focus with blown highlights. Toes chopped off.

2 is focused on the sheet/blanket in front of his face. White balance or color is wonky. I'm seeing a blueish green tint to the whole image.

3 don't shoot up noses, flash making hard shadows, and I'd lose the text on it.

Sorry, but I wouldn't keep any of these.

I would MAAAYYBBEEE keep the second one but the other two I would toss. You should probably get a couple books on lighting, composition, etc and start from there.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I was actually dumb when posting these I should have posted them unedited since a lot of the harsh light I did it photoshop because I like those extreme looks. Which obviously didn't help though when asking for critique.

Your right. I hadn't really noticed until you mentioned it. Then I remembered how much he was wiggling. About the focus I thought I had it focused on his nose but I could be wrong. Then again maybe my crazy editting made it look that way. I'll pay more attention next time. The last one... well yeah text etc... and the facial expression anyway yuck I'll just have to do better.

About getting a book that's a great idea I'll do that also.

((FYI btw this is my own baby and I certainly don't make any kind of money from these pics. I can't afford to get a "good" photographer so I just keep trying to get good pics on my own. Work in progress))

Keep at it, Bridgette. At least you have easy access to the model.

It was C&C on here and elsewhere that taught me to start paying attention to what I was submitting. I've learned a lot but still have a long way to go.

I've found this site is a tremendous resource. Look through old threads, use the search feature, and see what feedback others have gotten and learn from there.
