Run through Noiseware 4 or 5 times gives this lovely soft glow.

Bourbon two. This picture sets a mood. I would not look twice is it were crisp and stark. It's moody and I like it.

I Agree with the moody. Even though it is a well light It looks spooky and don't think I would walk down that alley late nights.

I think they are saying the image quality is low, and it looks like it was taken with a camera that struggles in low light shooting conditions.

Maybe a better way to describe it would have been specific reasoning as to why it looks bad.

IMO it looks like a older quality photo and since the buildings are pretty old I think it fits.

It's a mood piece and the treatment works. Great colors and it does draw you into the picture (what I shoot for) which is the best you can hope for at the end of the day.

I think that people here too often look at the technical things as making up the most and sole important parts of an image.
Not saying that this is a great picture by any means, only that great pictures can have lots of terrible technical defects; ignoring the picture as a total entity cripples your ability to give good critique.

It's a nice subtle composition, and I don't mind the softness. The darks are so light that there's visible JPEG artifacting all over the place, which is very distracting (partly this screen has terrible contrast and lifts black points a lot, but still). My squinting I was able to "see" it better.

Ultimately the subject matter is just SO mundane and ordinary I am unable to like the picture, in spite of it's substantial graphical power.
