Balls of fire

It finally stopped raining here so I decided to go out and take some pictures and came upon these balls of fire. I thought I'ld share them with the forum. Any comments are welcomed.

I prefer the second over the third for it meets the theme "Balls of fire" best: in the other two, you can only GUESS where there is the "ball" - in the second you get to see it!

Are these scanned prints?
Is my monitor crap, maybe?
The bird in the third, which adds the extra little something to No. 3, but also all of the photo, look like an impressionist painting here - which tends to happen to my scanned prints on the computer screen, too .

No, these are not scanned. I believe the impressionist painting effect is because I don't have a haze filter. The images in real life are actually pretty close to these pictures. Sometimes I'm surprised at how nature sometimes look like paintings or maybe painters are just very good. I was planning on getting a haze filter but I actually like the painting like effect.

So do you like or hate the painting effect or did you bring it up because it stood out?

I like he sense of depth the 2nd photo gives. But I like the 1st the most.
