Baptism Portrait. C&C Welcome

So I chose to take on the daunting task of capturing my son in his baptism outfit. I told my wife dont bother taking him anywhere, I got this....I was a bit nervous, but I think they came out sweet. It was also my first set of photos using my new 70-200mm f/4L IS. Learn a few things along the way, like have extra batteries for the remotes on hand. Couple other lighting changes I would have made afterwards. But all in all, ill take em!

I wish the 1st one was in landscape, would have loved to see the entire dress. Sweet baby.

So would I actually...I was kinda cramped for space taking these shots and there was a couch in my way hindering me from getting a nice full length shot. I got a couple, but nothing I was happy with.

Cute kid. The b&w darkens the skin too much, and there are a few shots where the background wallpaper (?) is a little visually intrusive. Otherwise, great work!

Cute! The only thing I regularly recommend for portraits of babies who don't sit up alone yet is to avoid photographing low angles of their faces as it gives a very "up the nose" feel to them. I feel all of them except the second one feel this way.
Also, you end up getting a kind of "horror" or "monster" lighting when the light is coming from underneath the chin (remember holding the flashlight under your chin to tell ghost stories? Same concept.) The eyes then get dark and your highlight is the underneath of his nose, which then pulls attention and becomes a focal point. In the future, just think about how you're lighting the face and eyes. Great keepsakes that I'm sure will be treasured forever!
