Planning to use my unfinished basement as a photo studio, uploaded the floorplan here. The basement is about 700sq ft usable. It's not framed so the space is all opened up, I divided it into three sections, each one show in diff color in the floorplan, red dot are where those cheap string lights are.
The left and right walls shown in the floorplan are concrete, top and bottom walls have insulation foam but no drywall. Flooring is concrete, going to paint and seal it in white color.
Ceiling is exposed so can mount things on joists easily. There are some low headroom space (about 7' high) in my basement, rest of the space are about 8' high except where the supply duct is. So, one of my question is:
- How high the ceiling do i need?

Could anyone here suggest something that i could optimize the use of this basement?

Thank you so much in advance

Even an 8-foot ceiling is kind of low. Think of placing lights on light stands, and you will see what height restrictions you have.

For seated headshots/upper-body portraits, 8' is fine, but if you want to shoot standing adults you really need at least 10', and 12' is even better.

Take advantage of the length. It's really nice to be able to back up and shoot with a longer lens from further away. It's also nice to be able to have plenty of space between your subject and the background.

I had a basement studio set up for a while. Worked great for kids or seated adults.
