It looks like you're editing in LR and using the clarity slider? Bring it down A LOT!
The lighting only being on the upper half of his face does nothing really for me in the first one... and they would all benefit from having his entire head in focus instead of just the front of his face... Hoping that makes sense...
Did you just recently get your 50mm f/1.8 lens? If so, then that explains why they are all shot with the aperture wide open... You have "wide open syndrome" which EVERYONE gets when they first get that lens. I did it too... Narrow your aperture down to about f/4 and try again

OK ... I am a beginner ...
I like all the pix ... But I have notes ...
1. focus in the 1st. on the middle of the face ... and post processing smoothing is obvious ...
2. the 2nd. is my fav.
3. the 3rd. is like the 1st.

Focus on the eyes is good, particularly in 3. But the processing doesn't saying "kid" to me in any way. It seems much too harsh.
