- but at least the sun was shining, so I went out with the camera for the first time in a few days. Not so easy to operate the camera with gloves on & watering eyes.

Sorry to hear that Ron. Sunny and 15 degrees C here today.
I likethe shot ofthe grapes although I generaly prefer grapes a little more processed than that.

LowePro sells "photographer's gloves" which are knit gloves with beads of soft plastic stuck all over the palm side (including the fingers). The gloves are only medium weight and not that warm, but they make it really easy to use any kind of camera controls and buttons, and are a good compromise between really warm gloves which don't let you operate the camera and very thin ones that don't keep you warm at all. They got me through a few winters in Chicago a few years back.

I have a pair of wool/cashmere hobo mittens without fingertips. I keep some real gloves in my pocket to put on over the mittens when I'm not shooting. The hobo mittens keep my hands warm while only my fingertips freeze, but since my hands aren't numb I can still move my fingers to operate the controls. Works good. :D

I like the second photo, though its too bad about the green on the lower right. Takes it down a few notches, in my opinion. But the photo itself definitely has a vibe that says "cold".

I keep meaning to take my camera out on the way to class to get the nice frosts on the leaves in the mornings. Winter officially started on Halloween. :)

Thanks for the tips Ken & Abby.

I have always had a problem keeping my hands & feet warm in winter. When I was a surveyor, I learned to book notes with two pair of heavy mitts on.
