Benefits of having a hood?

Oh she's quick with a joke......yet has nothing to really add to the op's questions.

Again, reading and comprehension doesn't sit well with you, even after you quoted my contribution to the OP.

But I digress. One more time for the slow ones in the group:

I keep mine on backwards when it's in the bag and will usually leave it on if I'm not going to be shooting much before I put it back in the bag. I like to have my hoods with me, but if I cup them together inside each other they still take up more room than if I leave them attached to the lenses backwards.

:lmao:

Why when there's a beginners forum? :meh:

Because the beginner's forum is made for Nikon vs. Canon, or What camera should I buy, D3100 or D5000? threads.. People who post these questions, rarely, if ever, get told to search for their answer, even though there's one every day.

Don't forget the "I'm ready to shoot a Wedding, any advice?" posts!
how about the "dont critique my shots cuz they suck but tell me they are good anyway" posts?

Your not the sharpest tool in the shed are you? Before calling out someone else's reading comprehension maybe you should look in the mirror yourself. I'm glad you explained how you store your hood, too bad the op's question was regarding the benefits of a hood, not how you store it.

Three pages and counting..........and a fight.........all over why to use a lens hood!

PRICELESS!!!

I've only ever had two lenses that came without a hood, the kit lens and the 50mm f/1.8. I don't have the kit lens anymore and I can use the 35mm's hood when I use the 50mm. If a lens is mounted on my camera and out of my bag with an expectation to be used, it has a hood on it. I have two lenses that have hoods that eat up too much real estate in my bag. I have their hoods tethered to the bag. All my lenses have both front and rear caps on them unless they are being used. I like my lenses and take a common sense approach to protecting my investment. Hoods only take a few seconds to mount and the girls swoon when I mount them.

agree.......I made a comment about having the hood on the right way, I said that because of a funny experience. I was a "+1" to a wedding once. One of my friends didn't want to go to a wedding alone so she brought me with. It was a simple wedding, all the wedding party just wore nice clothes and they had it at a park under a gazebo. I found out through the grapevine that the photographer was hired off craigslist because they shot the wedding cheap. The entire wedding, the photographer had her lens hood on backward. You get what you pay for
