Best coin I ever found metal detecting

Found at a local park where I'd found other old coins. Playing with light etc here.

Spanish Realms?

That looks in fantastic condition ?!?!?!

Is it real because it looks too precise for a hammer stamped coin

Yes it's real...a one reale coin. They say Americans were using a lot of Spanish coins in that period. I believe the year or two previous to this would have been not round and very crude looking like you're talking about. I also used some carbon powder to rub in and make the background darker for the photo. It was near other coin's I had found like large cents 1790, 1818 etc. I think this is the year Geo. Washington was born.

Yes I do think it's silver and in great condition but it is dented and scratched in other areas so still not in the best condition. I don't think I'll ever have it certified because that costs money and I think these go for only around $200 anyway. I keep my best or most interesting stuff and put it in a frame behind glass and don't plan on selling it anyway. Just fun to have stuff like this in your hand that is that old.

NICE !!!! My oldest is an 1827 Large Cent, but my favorite is an 1857 Seated Liberty dime. Love pulling old coins out of the ground

Well I was just checking the internet and I can't seem to find the exact coin in that condition but some others don't seem to be worth a heck of a lot. I see some similar but in not as good condition for $80 or so. I saw one going for $200 but that was some months ago. With Ebay etc. things that used to be worth a lot have gone way down because of availability I guess. I still love it for its age. I like to look up what stuff was going on in history around that time.

Nice! Out of the same park I got an 1871 and 1841 seated dime and 1818 large cent etc. I'm not sure if I can go back because I was thrown out by the caretaker, even though it's woods where I found stuff and I always fill my holes so you can't even tell things were dug up.
