best lens for gig/concert photos?

whats the best type of lens to use for indoor gigs? i'm guessing a 200mm 2.8 but i don't have the cash for one of those! i have a fish eye thats great for close ups but i won't necessarily get close this time...!

I own a 24-120 zoom with VR f/3.5-f/5.6 and a 50mm f/1.4. I found I was using the 1.4 almost exclusively. I only used the zoom when I got bored (20 bands, 6 days). And most of those are too blurry with people moving around.

With the 1.4 I can get a fast enough shutter to get some terrific shots. Oh and 50mm f/1.8 is nearly as good for a fraction of the price. You can find one for about 70 dollars U.S.
