Hey Everyone,

I've got a Nikon D610 and love shooting video on my phone and point and shoot. I want to get into shooting video on my Nikon.

I have no idea about frame rates, what shutter speed I should be using and so on.

Are there any great books or sites that have all this information in one place?

Thanks

Video is just a long series of still images shown at a speed of 25+ frames per second.

Page 329 of your D610 user manual shows what frame sizes (1080p & 720p) and frame rates (25, 30, 50, 60 fps) you have available.

The rule of thumb for shutter speed is 2x the frame rate. If the frame rate is 60 fps then shutter speed would be set to 1/120. If the frame rate is 25 fps then shutter speed would be set to 1/50.

Making high quality video pretty much means buying accessories for your camera - a good microphone, a bigger monitor, a follow focus manual focus set up, a good fluid head video tripod, etc.

You'll also need to learn about sound recording, and video editing.
