Big, Big, Big Gator...and this only shows about 2/3 of him....He blocked the trail for the better part of forty minutes before moving on. I'd estimate an easy 12 foot.

Didja pet him? He's obviously friendly. Look... in #2, he's smiling!

No, but I did try to egg on a kid to jump over his back, thereby startling the gator to move..but he was either deaf, ignoring me or not nearly as stupid as most kids his age.

To give you a sense of scale, I'm 5'1" and weigh 182 and I would fit in the widest part of his mouth from left hip to right hip with ease.

We're you at Circle B? That looks like Humpback... he's a bad boy, had taken out a lot of other gators, not one to be messed with.

I thought for sure this was going to be a Bear picture. :allteeth:

Was at Circle B but he's a bit smaller than Humpback...but not more than a foot.

All the big ones look the same I guess. It's a bummer when they hang out on the trail so long, especially if your burning the morning light. It's a long way around to go back the other way. I haven't been going out there with the unpredictable rain we've been having, you gotta bring rain gear with you just in case.

Nice shots BD. I like the second one the best of the bunch. Not something I would want to encounter in the dark. :biggrin-93:

love that second shot, he looks huge and heavy!

You should have just walked up and thumped him on the head, and ran. I've heard the big ones can only run 7-8 miles an hour. Curious minds would be interested in knowing if this was true!! LOL
