So the lady and I went looking at a few possible future house blocks this morning. There was a small group of these guys on our possible future block. Only got a few shots from they car and they all took off once we got out of course. They background (overcast sky) was a bit bright and missed capturing the big male unfortunately. Big males usually surprise most non Aussies with how big they actually are so that would have been a nice shot..

neat for us to look at. over there you guys probably think of them as a giant rat.

Big Rabbits ............... you nutter mate :) :)

So are these like the big reds Dan ?? No complaints about the exposure considering the sky, pretty well controlled I reckon. Nice details and I love them all.

All the best over there Dan, well worth taking the camera gear on that property hunt.

Danny.

Thanks guys.
Danny these ones are Eastern greys. They are the second biggest species behind the reds and although not as large, grey males are much stockier. The biggest grey male on record was over 90 kg and measured 2.92 m. That is nearish to to only average red male weight (reds get biiiig) but it looks more impressive on the smaller frame.

Ahhh, great info thanks Dan and I was curious. The big reds are a little more dark in the colouring from memory. So are the reds more up in the northern territory Dan ?? I must goggle them actually.

2.92 meters is still darn tall !! even if that is the largest one. Man that's impressive. All the best Dan and thanks for that, beautiful shots I must say of these.

Hey Danny.
The big reds are very red and have a different looking face. Wish I had a pic but back when I was out that way alot I was not into photography. Reds are in all the mainland states but are found more inland. In Queensland you wont see them east of the great dividing range (big moutain range that divides the state in a similar fashion to the one of your south island).

Sorry I meant 2.92 meters long. The grey males are usually a little under 2m tall while reds are a little over.

All the best Danny.
Dan

Ahhh Okay. Now I understand about the height, I thought man that is massive ;) So they stick more inland and bush areas then, yep that makes sense. Saw a ton of Wallabies in Darwin, but not large Kangaroos so much. Next time Dan for sure.

All the best and thanks again for that, interesting.

Danny.

Too stinkin' cute. I like the eye contact in the second shot, but still like the first picture best.

Great shots and wonderful bokeh.
