What's new

Blogs?

I tried to start a blog. I posted once, then couldn't be bothered any more. A bit like when I was younger and tried to start a journal - I lasted about a week. To me blogs are for other people to write and for me to read.

Write about something you enjoy, network with other blogs (post comments on them), and read read read. Problogger.net is a good site with blogging info.

what

Don't really have constructive posts, just photos.

cool!
im now following you.

i JUST last week got on the blog idea. it's just SO much easier than having to update my site with new pics thru dreamweaver. having your own site is seeming less and less important these days. as long as you have a URL to share where people can go check you out, right?

here's mine.

so far only a couple posts...and im linking back to my flickr...is that a good idea? i dont wanna be posting whole sets on tumblr since they are already up and organized on flickr. any thoughts?

I started a daily photoblog using wordpress on my own domain. For me the reason is so that i have a place to show my best pictures, and because i post one picture every day (not more, not less), it keeps me busy with photography, but at the same time makes me select only the best ones.

I think the biggest trick to get traffic is to just 'spam' your link everywhere you leave a comment. (other blogs, facebook, forums, email etc) so here is mine: DailyPhoto

this is a pro photographer's daily photo blog that I follow: joe's nyc Maybe I should look for some more of these, to get input from more different styles

To those who have posted their blogspot blogs on here, I followed (I'm Britt, in case you were wondering).

Seriously..blogspot et al need to sort through all those dead blogs (1 post: hello world, 2003) and free up the good names people could be using.

I have been blogging daily for a couple of years and it can be a bit of a pain but it also keeps me shooting. My rules for blogging are:
Make it a little personal (you need a connection w/readers)
Post often (people want new content)
Try and use labels/tags
Link to a larger site for sales

I feel like i have sold quite a few photos through my blog and also got a couple of large (5 figure) jobs for my landscaping company (it is nice to have somewhere to send potential clients). I have had up to 1,000 visitors per day but now average about 300/day. Mine is seasonal so the traffic varies with the time of year. I have also met some of the readers and that has been really nice.
