Boudoir Inspired Shoot C&C Please

For valentines day my sisters both wanted to make calendars for their boyfriends. They asked if I could do this for them and I figured I might as well give it a shot. This is probably one of my favorite shoots to date but I just thought I would post a few and see what other people thought of them! I know the background in some is not fantastic but we worked with what we had. So lemme know what you guys think

I mean this honestly, and not to be overly harsh, but does she intend to appear as if she's taking a dump on the chair?

I suppose some people could be into that...

That said, these look like they were taken with a highschoolers iPhone. Clear up that white balance and get some real poses going!

Needs better lighting, composition, angles, white balance, and more... Lol

Not a bad start. At lease they took their clothes off. Some people don't even get that far

You should have let her go pee before shot #2. I thought the poses on the couch werent bad. I liked #1. Moreso if she had her arm moved a little more out of the way. Maybe above her head.

To be totally honest 2 & 4 look as though they are or have to go to the washroom. Very awkward. Pretty girls though try a reshoot! Some natural soft lighting would be nice.

Such cute sisters, in such nice outfits! Shame though about the yellowish "indoor light white balance look". I'm sure their boyfriends would enjoy a calendar of photos like these.

You can control the background very easily. Move the couch, lay the blanket on the floor and cover carpet. Place subject on blanket and use sheet for implied nude. Shoot wide for shallow depth of field then convert to black and white. Recommend you do a search for the member Rub on this site and browse her boudoir work. She's very good.

A quick example of what I mean about utilizing your space: I shot the following in a crappy room and salvaged a would-be horrendous shot into something not so bad.

If you are making a calendar, you really should shoot to optimize the calendars format. If the calendar template is of landscape ratio, you really want to fill that space. Your crops above are in all sorts of random crop ratios, and orientations.

These are very awkward from a posing perspective. The dump on the chair comment, I basically agree with. Also sort of looks like that chair leg is lined up... err... yeah. Not good. I imagine this is your first try. That purple thing thrown over her looks... tacky. The couch also looks kinda off. Those boots... not even remotely sexy. Her pose here is a little odd. I could go on but I don't want to beat it to death.

The point is you probably need to think about what works and what doesn't very carefully, and some studying up on how these things are done would be a good plan. (and ... if you are male ... not an unpleasant task)

They don't seem very prepared. I mean, yeah you have some models posing, but the backgrounds aren't really...that great, and the lighting seems to be just the overhead light in your room.

It is what seperates the Facebookers from the Photographers.
