Bought my first ever DSLR camera

I have always been interested in photography but I have not had the chance to own a SLR camera until now. I found the following deal on ebay and I had to extrude $300 out of my very tight budget to but this camera.
It's a Canon EOS 300D rebel, Canon 18-55mm lens , Sigma 70-300mm macro lens, battery charger w/2 batteries, Canon shoulder strap, 1 GB compact flash card , 2ea 256 meg compact flash cards, camera bag that holds everything, compact flash card reader, factory box, software and manuals.

Was this a good deal?

I have no idea of how to take good pictures. I guess I would have to do some try and error.

Sounds like a fairl deal assuming all is as advertised and it works correctly.

If you ever want to know if you are looking at a good deal then check eBay and Amazon.com. I would say that you did get a good deal except that maybe the Sigma lens might produce less than great results. I am a Nikon man but at that price I might buy a Canon just to play with even though it is outside my chosen Nikon system.
