It also has 'EOS movie mode' and some 'Artificial Horizon Tilt' - assuming it's some sort of electronic form to level a picture.

Though this would have been awesome on a FF... heck, this is still a bloody good body.

I got my grandfather's little mini bubble level that slides into the hot shoe! Now that is cool for leveling horizons! lol

It's definitely a step in the right direction for canon though, hope it's totally weather sealed like the D300.

I don't see how APS-H would be a good step at all for Canon. The people who would most likely buy a crop body are the ones who are already shooting crop bodies (ignoring the people just starting out as the issue here is lenses). If the body were APS-H, that means that their entire EF-S line of lenses would be incompatible (forcing people who used APS-C bodies to buy new glass), but without the benefits of FF. APS-H users would have to buy EF glass, but still wouldn't be able to use it to it's full benefit; that's just silly.

And I too hope it's weather sealed. That'd be nice.

Canon could design a FF or even an APS-H sensor to be backwards compatible with their EF-S line. Nikon did it with their bodies. Granted, it's not an ideal solution but it certainly isn't impossible. With a APS-H sensor the negatives of such a solution wouldn't be as severe as they are with the full frame sensor.

I notice one specification you listed,#10, the 3 inch OLED display---can that be right? Do you mean it has a three inch organic light-emitting diode display screen? Or is it just a three inch LCD?

As far as an APS-H sensor--that would be much preferable to an APS-C sensor in my book. Canon's APS-H sensors are 1.3x FOV and are 548 square millimeters in area, while their APS-C sensors are only 329 square millimeters
in area, an that's a much smaller sensor area to cram 18 megapixels into.

If a person looks at a sensor size diagram where different sensor sizes are displayed in graphic format, it's pretty clear that APS-H offers a *significantly*
larger sensor,and a significantly wider angle of view on regular lenses.

So maybe I missed this in another thread, but what was the reason for going with the 7D moniker?

Regardless of name, this looks like a fantastic camera. My next purchase will be a FF though, and I think I'll enjoy my 50D investment for the time being. I think if I only had the Rebel still, I would buy a 7D in a heartbeat, but seeing that the price point will probably be above the 50D and below 5DmkII, I would sooner just get the FF 5DII and keep a hold of my 50D.
