I just begin photography and yesterday I took my first photos in my backyard with the best camera I had in the house.

Not only is dusk my favorite time of day but this photo makes me feel like I'm looking out the mouth of a cave. The way the light was playing havoc with the clouds contrast really shows up in this one. I didn't notice this to later, but it looks like the cloud pulls to the right behind the tree then shoots up overhead. Of course that's not whats really happen but it's interesting.

It's a great shot indeed! I'd crop a little off the top but yeah, very cool!

Thanks Trever1t I will crop some off the top there.

Today I caught this cloud formation, but what really caught my eye was the blue strip of sky running through it.

Woah! Absolutely beautiful and intense that second shot is!

Welcome to the Forum. The first one looks a little fuzzy, not sure if that is because it is out of focus (which I suspect it is) or because something was moving during your image capture. The second one looks a lot better, and as one who likes cloud pictures, I do like this one, particularly the colours. It is unfortunate that there is a big tree covering up the lower right part of the image, but I guess sometimes you have to take what you can get from wherever you can get it. Again, however, the clouds in the upper part of the image look like they are not in focus and I know that there can be a problem capturing clouds because they are "fuzzy" by nature and web postings do not always provide the best that an image can be. Did you do any sharpening of the image before you posted it - just curious?

Cheers,
