C&C: look at this photograph => did I succeed?

A+ man, A+.

Much better than the first.

Glad to see you got the ISO down. Makes a HUGE difference!

Color version is much better in my opinion. Either way it's an awesome shot, very good job.

I see that bw vs coloured is a matter of personal opinion, here.

Thank you for kind words. The boat was like that when I got there. The line isn't completely straight, it has a little U-shape, but that's only visible from the side. This is taken straight above it. I'm curios as to what this would look like if I went back and shot at midday, when the lighting is completely different. It's only 8 minutes away from me. The water on lakes is much calmer early in the morning. Just after the sun rose I could see clear ripples on the water, making the reflection in this shot impossible. I guess that proves that going out early at times can be very rewarding.

Great work. My only gripe is that I would have liked to see the tie-off part in the foreground just a little further from the frames edge. I find that due to placement in the image, my eye tends to go to the boat first and then follows the rope in reverse as I look at the photo as opposed to the intention of the reverse happening. Thats just me though.

I love it!

Only thing I personally would have done different would be to have the angled in to the frame instead of parallel to the edge. That's more a matter of taste though I think. Seems like in this photo it's angled just slightly towards the edge of the frame. It would be tough to line that up properly, because you'd have to find the perfect spot where the rope and the horizon formed a 90-degree angle... so I think I would have gone for the angled-in look out of sheer laziness.

Great job and thanks for sharing!

I LOVE this picture! Its sooo nice! I love the colors! I think it looks so calming! Great job! Makes me wanna go out there and lie in that boat all day! :)

Great shot. Very clean and classy.

Awesome! I definitely like the color better.

I sort of wish the rope was leading to the left, rather than to the right... I have no reason why other than the fact that I just feel like it would be aesthetically pleasing to my eye, but as it stands, I still love it! :sillysmi:

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!

My first impression was damn, that's some good photochopping skillz man! It was after looking at your brother's shots that I realized you actually captured that image as it was! I also thought "oh man, wish he had got that line diagonally!" but you explained your reasoning and I agree the effect you captured far outweighs my love of diagonals.

Good job man, sure wish I had seen it first!

Good job! The color image is more powerful, to me, but the b&w looks great too. You really nailed it!!
