C&C Sunset Photos

Haven't really taken any landscape photos before, really would like to get into it for next summer/spring. Took this on vacation last week, would really appreciate any feedback to help improve these sort of shots.

#1 The exposure and color is done well. Too much water, needs a crop. I would suggest one, but your photos are not ok to edit...

#2 Is kind of, meh... Colors are nice with good exposure on the clouds, but the composition is boring. Whatever that thing is in the far left is distracting and could have been used to the photo's benefit.

i like the colors. but the first, i am botheredby the buoy rope and too much water. i think a tighter crop with more sky, less water, perhaps just past the edge of the suns glow.

the second one i love, albeit except for the dock on the left. or is that a boat?

Thanks for the feedback, you can go ahead and edit my photos I don't care. I cropped the photo with too much water and cut out the sky, I thought it looked more colourful with more water than more sky. I agree about the buoys, I wish they weren't there haha. The stupid boat on the left bugs me too, I've got a bunch of them too choose from during this sunset, I may have to find one where it's composed a little better. I believe the first would be much better without the buoys, and you can still see the change in the water's depth past that point, which I like in that photo.

Thanks, I'm sure it will become easier to get better photos with more practice. It's too bad there aren't as many scenic shots like this where I live.

I especially like the edited version of #1. The sun with the clouds overplayed on it are just beautiful along with the colors in the water is is very pleasing to look at.

With the crop afterwards, they look pretty nice, I like both, the water in the first one somehow hurts my eyes though.

I really like the strong blues in the first one, could probably adjust the levels a bit to tame some of the reflections in the water. I think that would clean it up a bit.
