C&C (whatever that means) my beginning photos

Decided to take my new Canon PS S110 with me to work today. Most good shots were before and after work not a whole lot of opportunities at work. Computer stores really aren't that great for photography

Also uploaded some of what I considered to be the better photos I have taken with my DSLR.

To provide feedback on each and every one would be too much but if you could give me overall general feedback about what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right, and perhaps specific feedback about a couple of the photos, I would really appreciate it.

And yes, the site is rather ugly right now - it's a default install of Zenphoto.

You'll get better results if you pick 2 or 3 and post them here. Many here will not follow a link.

In the first one (landscape) I'm having trouble picking out a subject. My eyes jump from power line, to hill side to sky etc.

The next one really does nothing for me. It is somewhat sharp and the colors are nice but it's not a subject that's really appealing.

I hope you don't take this as beating you up or picking on you. That's NOT my intent. C&C is all about honesty. Lots of people take C&C personal. You have to remove your personal thoughts of the image YOU took and see it how everyone else sees it.

That said, in each of these images there was something that you saw in them that made you want to photograph them. The key is finding the presentation that shows the rest of the world what you see. Keep shooting and keep it fun.

Start to look for interesting light... your photos are kind of flat. Dramatic light will greatly improve your work. Think sunrise/sunset, but also think out of the box.
