I recently purchased a Yashica-Mat 124G and was wondering if it takes a special cable release, like the 635. This is my first try with Medium Format any suggestions.

The 124G uses a standard cable release that screws into the shutter release button.

Thanks, Now another question, Anybody know about the accessory lens for it. Do they just fasten on the front of the existing lens ?

Yashica made accessory wide and tele lens sets. I believe there was
also a macro set. Each set has viewing & taking lenses that bayonet
onto the camera's lenses.

There were also other sets made by other manufacturers that will work.

These are only for the later Yashica TLRs that have lenses with bayonet
accessory mounts. The earlier Yashica TLRs only accept push-on
accessories (filters).

I had a 124G back in the 1980s with some of these lens sets. They worked
pretty well.
